Epa Pushes For Renewable Fuel Use The EPA has devised a standard program RFS (Renewable Fuels Standard) that's aimed to double the use of renewable fuels like and ethanol. This program recognizes the value of home-produced energy, and supports the rural sector by putting money on biofuel.
The program is designed to reduce the use of petroleum by around 3.9 Billion Gallons a year by the year 2012 and, also, to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 14 Million Tons per annum. EPA has also issued a regulation, which recommends that 3.71% of all gasoline sold/dispensed to the motorists in US, in 2007, should be renewable fuel.
